We are thrilled to welcome Sheree Fletcher as our guest on the April 18th episode of “Co-Parenting Matters”, “Adventures in Co-Parenting and Whooping Ash”. In 1992, Sheree married actor Will Smith. After the dissolution of their marriage 3 years later, Sheree shifted her focus from her career to managing life as a single parent to their son. While many celebrity divorces make the news for their contentiousness, Sheree’s co-parenting relationship is publicly admired for its warmth and congeniality, even after both parties have remarried. Sheree joins us to talk about co-parenting in a high-profile situation; her transition from single parenting to remarriage; and balancing family life with her entrepreneurial pursuits.
Sheree is the Founder and CEO of Whoop Ash, a natural organic beauty care product that annihilates ash (for the uninitiated, “ash” is a colloquialism expression for dry skin). Deesha’s family has fallen in love with Whoop Ash. Her daughters keep hiding the jar from each other. She also bought some for her new hubby who had a seemingly undefeatable ash situation, but—you guessed it—it was no match for Whoop Ash.
Sheree has been kind enough to give away two jars of Whoop Ash to two lucky WeParent.com and CoParenting101.org readers. Visit both sites for two chances to win! We wanted to make the giveaway fun, and we were inspired by actress Holly Robinson Peete’s tweets about chasing her husband’s car down the street because he’d forgotten to de-ashify the kids before leaving the house! A lot of folks on Twitter could relate! (Peete is a Whoop Ash fan as well; her tweets are how our friend, Deesha, discovered the product.) So, here’s all you need to do to enter the Whoop Ash and Win Giveaway…
Leave a comment telling us an “ash” story from your childhood or one involving your own child(ren). Deadline: April 18th 5 PM EST
And that’s it! We’ll draw 2 winners at random from among the entrants and announce them on the April 18th show.

We’ll announce the winners this Sunday night on “Co-Parenting Matters”…and maybe we’ll even taste test a few live on the air! So, tune in this Sunday at 9:30pm ET, to hear Ron’s insights on the aftermath of divorce, readjusting to married life, the awkwardness of being a step-dad, the loss of male identity after being laid off, and ultimately, an understanding of what fatherhood really means. Oh…and to see if you won!
Love is in the air, and we are thrilled to be celebrating it by giving away Sade’s new Soldier of Love CD to three lucky WeParent readers. It’s hard to believe that the last time the group released an album, Lovers Rock, was a decade ago, It’s really hard to believe when you see frontwoman, Sade, who looks untouched by time.
The album hits stores on February 9th.And, while we’re excited about the entire release, because we care so much about co-parenting and parenting, we can’t wait to check out the track, “Babyfather,” “about how great it is to be a parent, what a great honor and privilege that is, and what a terrible thing that is to waste,” frontwoman Sade Adu recently told PEOPLE. “As long as you feel good about yourself, you can be a good parent, and then it becomes an endless fruitful cycle,” she says.We second that emotion! We couldn’t get our hands on that one, but check out the video for “Soldier of Love” below:
So, like we said, we’re giving 3 copies of this long-anticipated release away. The deadline for entries is 11:59pm EST on Saturday, February 20th. Winners must have a U.S. address. In the early 1950s, legendary baseball hero Jackie Robinson literally “tested the ice” for his kids who so eagerly wanted to skate on the frozen lake near their home. Under Sharon Robinson’s skillful authorship and Kadir Nelson’s vivid illustrations, “Testing the ice” also becomes a stunning metaphor for her father’s remarkable racial breakthrough.
As soon as my son began reading Testing the Ice aloud to me, I could tell by the enthusiasm in his voice that this book was one we would read over and over again. Read this entire post to find out how you can enter to win a copy to share with the young ones in your life.
Testing the Ice is a new children’s book written by Sharon Robinson, daughter of the legendary Jackie Robinson.Written from the perspective of a little girl full of the deepest love and admiration for her father, Testing the Ice tells the story of a much more personal heroism than the one for which we have all come to love Jackie Robinson.
After moving to their new home in Connecticut, the Robinson children and their new friends spent all summer enjoying the lake found on their property. As they played and swam, their father watched from the shore, never daring to enter the water himself. But, when the winter cold hardened the lake, and the children set their minds on skating on the ice, Jackie Robinson could no longer lurk in the background.Courageously, despite not knowing how to swim, he risked his life to test the strength of the ice with his own body and a broomstick, making sure the children would be safe.
Illustrated by Kadir Nelson, the images of Jackie Robinson recounting how he shattered the color barrier in Major League Baseball, spending time with his family and crossing the ice are breathtaking. His masterful artistry breathes life into this wonderful story and transports you to the beautiful landscapes and historic baseball games of Sharon Robinson’s childhood.
As a mother, I was reminded that regardless of what the world says, regardless of what we may think, our children have their own reasons for loving their fathers and experiencing them as heroes. As a parent, I was thrilled to hear my child’s excitement at learning about Jackie Robinson the baseball legend and the father. And, as a person striving to make a difference in this world, I was inspired by the courage this man showed in both his professional and personal life.I am grateful to Sharon Robinson for sharing her father with our family in this rich, personal and inspirational story.
And, in our first giveaway, WeParentis giving away copies of Testing the Ice to FIVE lucky readers. One winner will receive a Testing the Ice prize pack that includes a copy of the book and a Kidorable hat, glove and scarf set shown in the image below (an estimated $53 value.)The other 4 winners will receive a copy of the book (and estimated $17 value.)
